Hygiene & Safety Standards – Home Massage Abu Dhabi
Inviting a therapist into your home, hotel room, or villa requires a level of trust that a walk-in spa visit simply doesn’t. We take that trust seriously. This page lays out, in full detail, exactly how we protect your health, safety, and privacy on every single booking — from therapist vetting to the equipment sanitization process to what happens during the session itself.
1. Therapist Screening & Certification
Every therapist who works under the Home Massage Abu Dhabi name goes through a structured vetting process before ever being assigned a client:
- Identity and background verification. We confirm identity documentation and conduct background checks before onboarding any therapist.
- Qualification review. Each therapist must demonstrate formal training and hands-on experience in the massage modalities they offer — Swedish, deep tissue, Thai, aromatherapy, sports massage, prenatal massage, and our other specialty treatments.
- Alignment with Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DOH) guidelines. Our therapist practices and hygiene protocols are structured around the wellness and safety standards set by the Abu Dhabi DOH, and we review these protocols on an ongoing basis to stay current.
- Ongoing performance review. We track client feedback after every session. Therapists who don’t consistently meet our hygiene, professionalism, and technique standards are retrained or removed from active bookings.
- Health screening. Therapists are expected to self-report any illness or condition that could affect a session, and are not assigned to appointments while unwell.
2. Equipment & Product Hygiene
Nothing your therapist brings into your home is reused without being properly cleaned or replaced first.
- Linens and towels Every client receives freshly laundered sheets, covers, and face-cradle covers. These are never reused between clients — each session gets its own fresh set, sealed and transported separately from used linens.
- Massage table and equipment Portable massage tables, bolsters, and any wooden or stone tools (used for Maderotherapy or hot stone massage) are wiped down and sanitized with approved disinfectant before and after every session.
- Oils and consumables We use quality massage oils and lotions suited to different skin types and treatment styles. Where bottles are shared across clients, therapists dispense product using hygienic pouring methods rather than direct hand-to-bottle contact. On request, we can arrange single-client sealed oil bottles.
- Hot stones and heated tools For hot stone massage, stones are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between sessions and heated using controlled, calibrated equipment to ensure safe, consistent temperatures.
- Therapist hygiene Therapists sanitize their hands before the session begins and at intervals throughout, wear clean attire to each appointment, and follow strict personal hygiene standards.
3. Before Your Session
- You’ll receive confirmation of your therapist’s estimated arrival time.
- Therapists carry identification and can confirm their booking details with you on arrival if requested.
- You are welcome to ask your therapist about the specific products they’ll be using — including checking for any ingredients you may be allergic to — before the session starts.
- Setup (table, linens, lighting, music if applicable) is handled entirely by the therapist. You don’t need to provide anything.
4. During Your Session
- Draping protocol. Professional draping is used throughout every massage. Only the specific area being treated is uncovered at any time — your privacy is maintained from start to finish.
- Consent and comfort checks. Therapists check in on pressure level and comfort throughout the session and adjust technique accordingly. You are always free to ask for lighter pressure, a change of focus area, or to end the session early.
- Boundaries. Our services are strictly therapeutic and wellness-focused. Therapists are trained to maintain professional conduct at all times, and any request outside the scope of a legitimate massage therapy session will not be accommodated — see our Terms & Conditions for our full code of conduct.
5. After Your Session
- Used linens, towels, and disposable items are removed from your home by the therapist and not left behind.
- Equipment is repacked and sanitized again before being taken to the next appointment.
- We welcome feedback after every session — positive or constructive — which feeds directly into our therapist quality reviews.
6. Health Disclosures We Ask For
To keep your session both safe and effective, we ask clients to disclose the following at the time of booking or at the start of the session:
- Pregnancy (and trimester, if applicable)
- Recent surgeries or injuries
- Skin conditions, allergies, or sensitivities to oils/products
- Chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular issues, or blood clotting disorders
- Any areas of the body that should not be massaged
This information allows your therapist to choose safe techniques and avoid contraindicated areas. If you’re uncertain whether massage is appropriate for a specific health condition, we recommend checking with your doctor before booking.
7. Illness & Contagious Conditions
For the safety of both clients and therapists, we ask that sessions be rescheduled if either party is currently experiencing symptoms of a contagious illness (fever, flu symptoms, active skin infections, etc.). We’re happy to reschedule your appointment at no penalty in these cases — see our Booking & Cancellation Policy for details.
8. Compliance & Continuous Improvement
Our hygiene and safety protocols are reviewed on an ongoing basis and updated in line with:
- Guidelines published by the Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DOH)
- General wellness-industry best practices for mobile and in-home spa services
- Direct client feedback collected after every session
If you ever feel a session did not meet the standards outlined on this page, please contact us directly — we take every report seriously and will follow up promptly.
